WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RUN?

The 2024 H-E-B Austin Sunshine Run will have a virtual race as well! This means that runners can still register and participate on their own, running the distance they register for on any course, loop, treadmill, trail or route they choose and tracking it themselves. Each runner will receive a race bib, 2024 H-E-B Austin Sunshine Run t-shirt and finisher’s certificate. 

WHY SHOULD I PARTICIPATE IN THE VIRTUAL 2024 H-E-B AUSTIN SUNSHINE RUN?

In addition to achieving a training or racing goal, your race registration helps us provide amazing summer camp experiences and programming to kids in the Austin area that need it most. Each registration helps us provide a unique summer camp experience to kids who would never have these kinds of opportunities. Since you can participate from anywhere, we hope this means many more people can attend our events from the comfort and safety of their homes and neighborhoods, near and far. You can race and support these kids wherever you are!

WHERE DO I SIGN UP?

WHERE DO I RUN?

You can race anywhere that is safe for you, whether that be on a treadmill at your home or outside on a route of your choosing. We strongly encourage you to race in your neighborhood and avoid crowding up high-traffic areas, in accordance with recommendations from the City of Austin.

WHEN DOES THE EVENT START?

The Virtual Austin Sunshine Run will kick off on Sunday, May 5th, 2024. You have until May 14th, 2024 to submit your time. You participate virtually by tracking your race for the full registered distance and sharing that on social media and with us by posting your time.

IF I PARTICIPATE INDOORS ON A TREADMILL, DOES THAT COUNT?

You bet! All miles that you race, walk, or crawl, whether inside or outside, count!

ARE THERE AWARDS FOR THE FASTEST RUNNERS IN THE VIRTUAL RACES?

There will be no awards for virtual runners, but you will be able to view the results online once the virtual race window has closed!

WHO DOES THE SUNSHINE RUN BENEFIT?

All proceeds from the Austin Sunshine Run go directly to Austin Sunshine Camps, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides free, overnight Summer camp in Zilker Park and Lake Travis to over 1,200 historically underinvested Austin youth every year. WHAT ARE THE RACE OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM?

There is a virtual 5K and a virtual 10K. 

IS THERE A VIRTUAL KIDS K?

No, there will be no virtual Kids K, but we certainly recommend getting out for a race with your kiddo!

WHEN AND WHERE IS PACKET PICKUP?

Because you have signed up for the virtual race, your packet with your shirt will be shipped to you and your bib and finisher’s certificates will be emailed.

DOES EVERYONE GET A T-SHIRT?

Every registration before May 1st will receive a t-shirt. Please note that we cannot guarantee t-shirt availability for registrations in the week leading up to the event.

DO I NEED A BIB TO Race?

No! But, you will receive a link to create a virtual bib for your personal use. Have fun with it! Create a fun name or saying and share it with us on social media. Encourage your friends to participate as well! Instragram: @austinsunshinerun #ASR2024

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY TIME?

The week prior to May 5th, 2024, you will receive an email that will include links:

●      To create your own bib (no need to actually print and wear, but we do encourage you to share it on social media).

●      To submit your time. It must be submitted no later than May 19th, 2024.

●      To download a finisher’s certificate, once your time is submitted.

WHAT IS THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE?

Please register as early as possible, but no later than May 5th, 2024.

CAN I REGISTER MORE THAN ONE PERSON AT ONCE?

Yes! When you have filled in all necessary information for one registration, you will be prompted to either complete your transaction and go to payment, or to register another runner. This allows you to register everyone with one transaction.

CAN I GET A REFUND OR DEFER MY REGISTRATION?

2024 H-E-B Austin Sunshine Run registrations and entry fees are non-transferable, non-refundable and cannot be deferred. All proceeds go directly to Austin Sunshine Camps.

IS MY ENTRY FEE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE SINCE YOU ARE A CHARITY?

The IRS does not permit us to count entry fees as donations. However, any donations made along with your registration or in addition to it through our fundraising portal are fully tax-deductible. 

WHO PUTS THE SUNSHINE RUN ON?

The 2024 H-E-B Austin Sunshine Run is organized by the Young Men’s Business League, who founded Austin Sunshine Camps in 1928, and race it to this day. Learn more about YMBL here.
